Local graduates (APN)

Eligibility:

1. A Registered Nurse (RN) on full registration and have a valid practising certificate with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB); and have at least 5 years of continuous clinical practice as an RN. Having obtained advanced diploma/ post-graduate diploma in a clinical specialty would be an advantage.

2. Graduate of Master of Nursing programme conducted by the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in National University of Singapore as this is the only preparatory programme for APNs accredited by the Singapore Nursing Board.

3. Your employing institution must define your APN role, which is supported by the Chief Nurse/ Director of Nursing and Clinical Head of Department.

4. Application for certification as APN must be submitted within one year of completion of NUS Master of Nursing programme.

Application

Please ensure that you have read and understood all instructions before you start applying, including the submission of mandatory documents (see below section on “Documents”) together with your Application as the system may not prompt you to do so. If you fail to attach the mandatory documents at the point of application, your application may be delayed.

Documents required for application

Please attach the following documents to your application:

a) Passport photograph [PDF, 10 KB]. When you attach the photograph, please select the following:

Subject Matter: Photograph

Document Title: Recent Colour Photograph against White Background

b) Colour-scanned copies of: 

• NRIC (front & back in one page) or Passport (biometric page)

• Certificate of Advanced Practice Nurse education

• Transcript of Advanced Practice Nurse education (with the breakdown of theory)

• Certificate and Transcript of Bachelor and/or Advanced Diploma qualification (if you have not submitted to SNB previously)

c) Curriculum Vitae form [PDF, 75 KB ]. Fill in all educational/professional qualifications and clinical experiences as an RN

d) Proposed APN Scope Form [PDF, 80 KB]. Fill in the proposed APN scope that you would be practising after you have been certified

Note: All documents submitted to SNB for certification application will be kept by SNB as documentary proof and are NOT returnable.

Separately;
a) your educational institution must send the verification of clinical hours to SNB directly, addressed to the Registrar, SNB.

b) MOH APN Internship Committee will need to provide SNB with the approved APN Internship training plan.

Each application will be assessed based on its merits. SNB will only assess the application when the applicable SNB fees have been paid and all required documents are received and are in order.

SNB will inform you of the outcome of the application when all requirements are met.

Application fees

The following SNB Fees are applicable:

a) Application Fee for APN Certification (to be paid upon online application)

b) Certification Fee (to be paid upon approval of application)

c) Application for APN Practising Certificate Fee (to be paid upon approval of application)

Please note that with effect from 15 August 2025,  the following are the acceptable online payment methods: 

1. Acceptable Credit Cards (VISA and MasterCard ONLY)

   • Note: American Express (Amex), Diners Club and JCB Credit Cards are NOT accepted.

2. Acceptable Debit Cards (Visa Electronic Debit Cards and MasterCard ONLY) 

Payment via eNETS (ie transfer of funds directly from bank accounts) will no longer be available as an online payment option.
